Tyran Dixon Named Defensive Player of the Year by Lohja Crusaders in Finland’s Vaahteraliiga
The Lohja Crusaders are proud to announce that Tyran Dixon has been awarded the prestigious title of Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding performance in the 2024 Vaahteraliiga season. This recognition underscores Dixon’s critical role in solidifying the Crusaders’ defense as they competed in Finland’s premier American football league.
Tyran Dixon, a 27-year-old defensive tackle from South Carolina, has had an impressive journey leading up to his success in Finland. A graduate of Newberry College (NCAA Division II), Dixon recorded a remarkable 76 tackles and three sacks during his college career. Following his time in college, he was drafted by the XFL’s Las Vegas Vipers, further honing his skills at the professional level.
In 2024, Dixon brought his talents to the Lohja Crusaders, helping the team navigate the fiercely competitive Vaahteraliiga, known internationally as the Maple League. His physical dominance and football IQ were evident throughout the season, with Dixon recording 36 tackles, making him a cornerstone of the Crusaders’ defense.
